Empower Her Legacy: Purposeful Collection

Mark 5:36 Overhearing[a] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

Mark 5:36, refers to the pain killer and purpose pusher. This verse teaches us about the two different forces that can influence our lives - pain and purpose. Let's delve deeper into what this means.

When we talk about the pain killer, we are referring to anything that distracts us or numbs us from the pain we may be experiencing. This can be anything from addictions, such as drugs or alcohol, to unhealthy relationships or even excessive work. These pain killers may provide temporary relief, but they do not address the underlying issues. They keep us stuck in a cycle of avoiding or suppressing our pain, preventing us from truly healing and finding fulfillment in our lives.

On the other hand, we have the purpose pusher. This is the force that drives us towards our true purpose and guides us on our journey of growth and self-discovery. It pushes us out of our comfort zones and challenges us to become the best version of ourselves. The purpose pusher may come in the form of a passion, a calling, or a deep desire to make a difference in the world. It gives our lives meaning and fulfillment, and it is what propels us forward even in the face of adversity.

Hello and welcome to today's lesson on the importance of pain and purpose in our lives. In Mark 5:36, it is said that there are two key elements that drive our actions and shape our lives - the pain killer and the purpose pusher. Let's dive deeper into what these mean and how they can impact our mental health.

The pain killer refers to the things we do or turn to in order to avoid or numb the pain we experience in life. This could be anything from unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance abuse or excessive binge-watching, to more subtle actions like constantly seeking validation from others or avoiding challenging situations. While these pain killers may provide temporary relief, they often prevent us from truly facing and resolving the underlying issues that are causing us pain. Over time, relying on pain killers can lead to a cycle of avoidance and dependency that hinders our personal growth and mental well-being.

On the other hand, the purpose pusher represents the driving force within us that compels us to pursue our passions, set goals, and overcome challenges. It is the spark of inspiration that gives our lives meaning and motivates us to take risks and learn from our failures. Having a strong sense of purpose can be a powerful tool for improving our mental health, as it gives us direction and a sense of fulfillment. Cultivating a purpose-driven mindset allows us to find joy and satisfaction in the journey, even during difficult times. By focusing on our purpose, we can build resilience, develop a positive mindset, and create a life that aligns with our values.

Take a moment to reflect on your own life. What are the pain killers that you turn to when you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Are there any healthier alternatives you could explore? Additionally, think about what truly brings you joy and a sense of purpose. How can you incorporate more of those activities into your daily life? By consciously choosing to face our pain and pursue our purpose, we can take control of our mental health and build a more fulfilling life.
